New Paintings

These are my latest paintings. The first one is a still life of Roses in a glass jar. The second one is something I like to do from time to time. I enjoy looking at vintage photos and then paint my impressions of them. Of course they are all black and white, so that gives me the liberty of guessing the colors. This one is my Aunt Judy on her honeymoon in 1957. They stayed in a cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. The bumper sticker indicates that they visit Marvel Cave on their trip. I asked her what color the 1950 Ford was, and it was indeed white. Unfortunately, it was stolen a few weeks later when they moved to Norfolk, Virginia where my Uncle Dave shipped out as a Navy man. The still life is available on my Ebay auction. The link is at the top of this page.

I had the day off and I experimented with some new techniques in acrylics. I like using lots of layers of washes and paints. It is hard for me to stray away from darker colors, I guess reds, greens, and golds are my "comfort zone", but I am working on it! ha ha The top painting depicts what some of us think about when we are at work all day--hee hee. The bottom painting is loosely based on an old photo of my mom and her twin. The photo was from about 1940. Both of these paintings are available on Ebay now~ It is easy to find my stuff by typing "folk art cris" in the Ebay search bar.
