New Paintings~

I have been reading a book about impressionism and love to experiment with the different techniques. Of course, you can't actually paint in the impressionist style without oils, but you can still use kind of the blobs and patches of paint with acrylic.

The first one, "Girl with a Cat" is a new style for me. I like the old fashioned look of it. It's a bit more realistic and I used more patches of paint rather than blending on the skin.

The next painting, "Cat with a Blue Vest", is based on a childhood memory. I really didn't play with dolls very much at all, but that didn't stop me from dressing up my pets in baby doll clothes. My poor kitties seemed to tolerate the clothes pretty well. They almost became hypnotized when they had clothes on. Maybe it was partially because they couldn't move very well. I guess it wasn't very nice of me, but I loved it. Am I the only crazy kid who did this?

Both of these paintings will be on Ebay tonight. The link is on the top of this page.

Patriotic Angels!

I've just listed two new paintings, both with patriotic themes and both using antique sheet music of patriotic songs! I decided to list the tall "American Angel" with the flags (6"X12") for only 3 DAYS! So hurry~I did this so that the person who wins the auction can get it in time for the 4th of July celebration! The close up "Peace Angel" is a 6"X6". Click on the link to my Ebay at the top of the page! I love the 4th of July and it will be here before you know it~

Faces

I have been experimenting with faces. This is obviously a sad one. I named it bee sting. She didn't necessarily get stung by a bee, but she experienced a set back of sorts that made her cry--I call them the bee stings of life--they don't make you or break you, but they are there to endure and form the person you are. This is available on Ebay.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far. I spent the weekend at the lake with my mom and three sisters and we had such a good time. We talked non-stop, snacked, enjoyed some wine, played dice games for silly prizes we all brought, dozed off whenever we wanted and talked some more! My sister Kerry has a beautiful condo right on the Lake of the Ozarks, but we barely left the condo, except to go get more food and wine, ha ha

Let Freedom Ring!

This little girl just came to me as I was looking through my antique book of music. I used the pages with the songs, "Our Flag" and "America" to create this Americana girl proudly waving her flag! You can find this 8"x10" stretched canvas on Ebay tonight~

Frida with Goat!

Ok, so I stayed up late last night to do this painting while I still had the colors in my mind. I like using lots of layer of paint, it's very primitive looking--especially along with the crackle. I will list this Frida with her goat on Ebay tonight. It is a tall 6"X12" stretched canvas.

I was shopping all day today for my son's big graduation party. We are having a Luau theme and I bought lots of fun decorations. I already have a Tiki Bar near the pool so it will be cool--No the kids will NOT have alcohol at the Tiki Bar--I will surely have a margarita there when it's all over though :)

Experimenting

I have been experimenting with different painting techniques. I love the look of lots of layers of paint, so I tried this new style of painting with a little more detail and lots of layering. It takes a bit longer than my usual cutesy folk art, but I like it. I didn't use crackle on it, but it still has an aged look. I am not sure yet if I will be selling this one because I love the way it looks in an antique look frame that fits it's 12x16 size. Tell me what you think? I am thinking of doing a Frida one with this style next.

Geez, I really need to stop painting and start working on getting ready for my son's graduation party this Saturday. We are having a combo party along with three of his close friends. I think 250 invitations went out on Facebook. I should be cleaning or something! I just hope and pray it doesn't rain because there is not enough room in my home for all those people. There is plenty of room outside, but it has been raining all week so I can't do anything out there yet~

I've Been Painting!

I have a few more paintings to show you. The first picture is actually a pair of squares. My favorite subjects are girls and kitties and these girls are being very well-loved by their kitties. The freckle-face girl even looks a tad bit annoyed at the way her kitty likes to hug her!

The second painting is an angel flying over the skyline. I used pages from a vintage book. I love painting on this 6"X12" size!

The third one depicts what happens in my garden. This raccoon is enjoying a midnight snack. I am about to give up on my vegetables this year! My tomatoes aren't quite ripe, but I caught a ground hog nibbling off the tops of the plants. I have replanted my pepper plants several times only to have my bunny friend nibble them to the ground. I even planted jalapenos thinking she wouldn't like those--but I think I may have a Mexican bunny!

I hope to list these on Ebay soon~

More Paintings!

I have a couple more paintings for you to see. The first one is an angel holding a little fox. It has layers of paint, vintage sheet music, crackle and antiquing on a 6"X12" stretched canvas. I like this new shape of canvas! The sides are striped with gold and blue.

The second painting is of two sisters. It also has layers of paint, vintage sheet music, crackle, and antiquing on an 8"x10" canvas panel. I have three sisters, and I cannot imagine life without them!

You can find both of these paintings on Ebay. The link is at the top of this page. Have a great day!
