More Kitties!

I finally got to finish a couple of paintings. The first one is called "Too Much Love" and you can tell by the look on the girl's face that her kitty just gives her a little too much love sometimes! Do you have one like that? The second painting, "Garden Calico" is a calico kitty enjoying the buzz of the garden! She is trying to remember if a bee is a "bad" thing to play with. I said "she" because I think I remember that true calico cats have all three color patches (not the tortoise shell type) on their face and are always female. Does anyone have a male calico?

I hope wherever you live that you are have the same beautiful weather that we are here in the St. Louis area!

Busy Weekend

I guess it is getting that time of year when everything gets crazy, busy. I keep having to look at my calender to make sure I am not forgetting something. I didn't get to paint until today, so I don't have anything to show you yet. One of the things I did this weekend was see my daughter, Laura get inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. I am very proud of her! After community college she will be transferring to a university to finish her degree in graphic design. I am happy to say that she will have 3 scholarships to help pay for it--yippee!

I hope everyone has a great week!

Little Fairy

I have a couple of new paintings to show you. I am still cutting up that vintage music book. It is fun to think of paintings to go along with the songs! The first one is a little fairy standing on a kitty in the window. Kitty is unsure of what to think of his new little friend!

The second painting is sort of Mexican style with all the bright colors. I layered several colors before I actually painted and glued the subjects on for an aged look. Both paintings have a crackle finish and black antiquing for a very primitive feel. Check them out on Ebay tonight!

Vintage Music Inspired

I am having fun with this vintage song book called Musical Gems for Rural and Village Schools. I hope it wasn't worth much money because I have been cutting it up like crazy for my art work. I don't even remember where I got it, I have had it a long time, but it was published in 1897. This painting, Garden of the Heart, is up on Ebay right now. The other little painting of a fairy holding a bee had a starting bid of only 99 cents! Both of them have FREE SHIPPING in the U.S. as usual!

A beautiful day today in the St. Louis area--high in the 60's, but they are saying snow flurries this weekend! That's St. Louis for you--if you don't like the weather, stick around, it'll change!

Easter Paintings

My daughter, Laura doesn't have class on Friday and we spent the day painting and listening to old jazz (like Billy Holiday). It was a quiet, happy day- doing what we like best. I love being able share this with my "middle baby". She sells her art on Ebay while she pursues a degree in graphic design. Later that evening the peace was broken when my son (Jordan, 18) had 8 of his buddies, boys and girls, spend the night. Laura and I watched "My Sister's Keeper". OMG that is almost just too horrible to watch. Don't watch it if you are feeling the least bit vulnerable or you will be crying for days!

The paintings I finished are available on Ebay right now. I was feeling like Easter and this is the result. I think the Siamese cat thinks there are little chickies in the eggs and he is hoping they will "come out and play"!

Spring Discovery

So many times I had to tell my children, "Don't touch the baby bunnies, their Mommy needs to come back to them!" We would find nests of them in unexpected places in the yard.

This little girl found the temptation of a little ball of fur just too much to resist! It is a breezy spring day and her mother probably told her many times not to bother nature's babies. This painting is up for auction on Ebay this week.

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend, and remember to leave the baby bunnies alone!

Heavenly Cats

I just wanted to share a photo of the latest painting that I have listed on Ebay. This painting has lots of detail. I used music from a vintage hymnal for the angels' dresses. It is a classic song that I think most Christians know. Lots of crackle and antiquing give it a very primitive look. The link to my Ebay auctions are at the top of my blog. Check it out!

Alice In Wonderland!

Has anyone seen the new Alice in Wonderland movie yet? I haven't, but with all the hype, I felt like doing my version of Alice and the Chestshire Cat. I used a page from an old Alice in Wonderland book for the tree. Sometimes I paint the whole canvas brown first and sometimes I don't. This is one of the times I did. I can't decide what I like to do better. This painting was just listed tonight on Ebay. Link is at the top of this page.
