SIGNS OF AUTUMN TODAY

There are some signs of Autumn at my house this weekend. The first one is my daughter, Tara going back to her apartment at University of Missouri-Columbia. I will sure miss seeing her smiling face every day!

The Goldfish always seem to get active in our little ponds as they forage for food and get ready for wintering at the bottom where the water is warmer.

The Sweet Autumn Clematis is beginning to cover itself with airy white blooms.

The basil plants are going to seed. Pretty soon I will harvest them before they turn brown with frost and whirl them in the food processor to freeze in Ziplocks. That way I can have a taste of summer all year long.

There is no stopping the blooms of the Mums anymore. When they try to bloom in July, I shear off the buds so I can enjoy them later on.

And....I have Halloween paintings to list on Ebay tonight! Sorry, the photos have a bit of glare due to our beautiful sunny day today. Take a closer look on Ebay later~~Have a wonderful week everyone...

ATC CARDS

It seems I am running out of things to paint on! I found these heavyweight ATC cards in my art supplies the other day and decided to paint a few. They are fun to work on. I have never really collected these, but they are a really cute way to collect art. How do people display them? I'd love to hear some ideas. They are 2.5"X3.5"--I will be putting them on Ebay soon. I just ordered a bunch of canvas panels from Dick Blick, so I should be set soon. I haven't been able to find a good source for the stretched canvases. I usually get them from Cheap Joe's online but they haven't had a sale lately. None of the stores around here carry very much selection of the the smaller sizes. Have a wonderful week everyone!

New Paintings!

I Have two new paintings to show you. Yes, I've been busy! The first one is two children out on a cool gloomy day finding a little owl who fell from it's nest. This flat 8"X10" canvas has holes drilled at the top and a black satin ribbon strung through it for hanging. I like the mood of this painting, it makes me think of being a child discovering something magical on a crisp autumn afternoon.

The second painting is kind of silly! I woke up one morning this week imagining these. It made me smile just thinking of trying to paint them, so here are my little flying fairy kitties! They each have such cute little expressions, like they are not sure if they should really be flying! I hope to list these paintings this weekend sometime.

For those of you interested, I listed the kitty ornaments and purse from a previous post on Ebay this afternoon.

I am savoring these last few days of summer vacation before I go back to work. I enjoy the easy stress free lifestyle with my high school and college aged children during these precious 3 months of togetherness. Moments of relaxing together are fleeting and few once everyone gets back into the swing of a new school year. As I sit here at the table finishing up my lunch, I count my blessings that we enjoyed another happy golden summer together!

OLD BOAT

Two little girls, probably sisters, were told to stay away from the old wooden boat at the edge of the creek--but they didn't listen. They were dancing around in it twirling their red blanket when suddenly it slipped into the creek. Before they knew it, the old wooden boat was floating downstream where the creek became wider and swifter! As the moon rose in the sky the little girls shivered under the red blanket. Even the ominous moon seemed to be saying to them, "YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO YOUR MOMMA!"

This 8"X10" painting will be on Ebay tonight!

KITTY ANGELS!

I know...I know...Christmas already? But I was at Hobby Lobby and I saw these wood shapes and instantly envisioned these cute little kitty angels. I couldn't wait to paint them. They have crackle on the metallic gold and cream wings, decorative paper and a 3-D die cut felt star. Aren't they sweet? Do you see your favorite kitty here? I'm not sure when I will list these, maybe soon.

I also experimented with using my artwork as an iron on transfer on this little canvas bag. It turned out pretty cute. It is small (6"x9") and could be used for a young girl, or an adult if you like to "travel light".

Can't decide on Etsy or Ebay for this one. Have a great afternoon everyone!

SOMETHING NEW

I felt the urge to experiment with some different faces. Maybe from watching my friend Jenny Carter painting new and different things! hee hee Anyway, this is what I came up with. It is a larger painting than I usually do (9"x12"). Also I decoupaged some paper butterflies under the paint in the background. The whole thing is covered with a thick decoupage gloss finish. The kitty's eyes really pop on this and I like the way it looks in my chunky golden frame. Tell me what you think~ I will probably list this on Ebay tonight. I am also working on a series of kitty angel ornaments I will show you later. I think I am getting "panicy" because I go back to my "real" job next week and won't have as much time to create!

LET ME GO!

"Come on kitty, I told you that I had an important date tonight! It is the smartest ball of the season and I can't miss it! I promise I will be home by midnight! I think I hear a knock at the door! Please let me go now!"

This 8"X8" painting has lots of crackle and charm. It is available on Ebay tonight.

DEEP FRY PARTY

Okay, so this is a VERY unhealthy idea for a party, but my college kids and their friends loved it. I started out by deep frying some yummy things like a pile of crab rangoon and a ton of chicken wings. Then after we ate all that, everyone contributed something to throw in the fryer and share. We had a bowl of batter and the kids went to town with my deep fryer. Some of those things included; Reeses peanut butter cups, Rollos, Zero bars, Rice Krispy Treats, frozen Pop Tarts, blueberry muffins, cheddar cheese chunks, and last but not least an egg and bacon McMuffin. It got really out of hand and everyone started feeling sick. It was entertaining to say the least. Ugh, I feel really icky right now...and I only ate the crab rangoons and wings!

HALLOWEEN THEME PAINTINGS

Ok, so I painted a couple of Halloween themed paintings. I just can't seem to let go of summer though!

The first one uses vintage sheet music from an 1800's school music book. The song is called October's Party! I used the title on her hat.

The second one is kind of creepy. This girl was on her way to a Halloween Ball and she took a shortcut through the woods. Well, we all know that is never a good idea. The crows were ordered to capture her by tying her up with a rope. When they are finished they will fly her to the vampire in the cave who is waiting for her luscious neck!

In the third painting, this girl is trying to help her baby owl friend find his mother in the deep woods. I think the baby owl is just as frightened as the girl.

All these paintings are available on Ebay. Have a great week!

WEEKEND GET AWAY

We spent the weekend in this wonderful cabin. My parents, 3 sisters and their families (except for one niece) were all there. There were no TV's, cell phone service or internet--it was pretty much in the middle of nowhere on a beautiful little lake. No worries though, we had plenty to entertain us. My son (on the chair) and niece and nephew played music for us, we had a fishing contest and relaxing rides on an old john boat. We had campfires at night and the teens even took the john boat out on fog covered lake under the moonlight. With their lanterns it looked like they were on their way to Hogwarts!

Except for my son touching an electric fence on a hike and my 22 year old niece getting bit by a copperhead (requiring a trip to the emergency room an hour or so away), it was a perfect weekend! Luckily she had her shoes on or the bite could have been much more venomous. It was fun reconnecting with all my family. I miss them already!
