NEW PAINTINGS

The photo was taken in the 1940's of my mom and her twin having a tea party with their baby dolls. It inspired me to paint this picture of two little girls doing the same. It has lots of pretty pastels and a drowsy little kitty nearby.

Do you ever feel like going out in your nighties in the middle of the night just to gaze at the moon? I sure do! It always fascinates me how everyone on this Earth is all looking at the same old moon. Also, our ancestors were staring at the same big ol' moon many, many years ago! Both of these paintings are listed on eBay if you are interested. The link is at the top of the page.~~~This is my last week of school!~~~~~~Yippeee!!!!

GLORIOUS MEMORIAL/BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!

It has been such a nice weekend! We barbecued Saturday and played badminton and whiffle ball with the kids and their friends. Then we made S'mores around the outdoor fire pit at night and watched the night critters.

The photo is of the back of a cart that my husband built a few years back. He modeled it after one on Lord of the Rings. It sits near the drive way and at Halloween it is decked out with scary stuff. Yes, my husband builds LOTS of things! All of our decks, arbors, benches, Adirondack chairs and such!

On Sunday, my birthday, I did whatever I darn well pleased! That was--sitting outside with the birds, sketching, painting, and piddling around in the gardens. I finished up three paintings I had started. I really like how they turned out. The butterfly girl has a wonderful proverb written on it--about renewal... The garden angel is very colorful with lots of papers, texture and some glitter...The girl in the hammock is how I felt this weekend--relaxed and content--she is watching her kitty who is watching a bluebird sitting near her head! I will list them all on eBay today. Back to work tomorrow! Have a nice week everyone!

NEW PAINTINGS

I finally got a couple of new paintings finished. I have been so busy with end of the year school stuff! I can't wait for summer break~

I really like how the "Sisters" one turned out. The colors are so much fun and the dresses are made from pages of a music book published in 1901.

The other one "Kitty Parade" has 4 cutie kitties! The girl is leading them with her baton. I almost forgot about how much fun it was to twirl batons! Do kids still do that?

I will be listing these on eBay tonight~~The link is at the top of the page....Have a great week!

Spring is Here to Stay!

It looks like Spring is here to stay now! As I write this, the music of the evening peep frogs is drowning out my son playing the piano! I got a new camera last night so I took a few pictures outside this evening. The pink flowering bush is my Wigelia gone crazy. The photo near the front porch shows a glimpse of the sun setting on the next "mountain". The photo of the area by one of my ponds is one of my favorite spots. There is a swinging bench nearby I love to sit on to read or sketch.

I finished a new painting today called "Hiding in Hollyhocks". It has nice summery colors and the girl and kitty have sweet expressions. I just listed it on eBay. The links are at the top of the page. Have a wonderful weekend!

NEW PAINTINGS - AND A DAY AT THE ART MUSEUM

My daughter, Laura and I spent a rainy, gloomy day at the St. Louis Art Museum. Wow--my art seems so silly and senseless after spending time there! I sneaked a photo of Laura doing a class assignment. She is sketching a charcoal drawing of the bronze sculpture of Degas' Little Dancer. In that one room there were Reniors, Van Goghs, Monets, and Cezannes! It is amazing to see them all in one place!

My paintings this week were inspired by last weekend when I spent a day with Tara on her college campus for the annual Earth Day Celebration. It was a bunch of fun and brought me back to my "teen of the 70's" roots! I hardly feel like calling these pieces "art" after my visit to the museum today, but if my paintings make you smile, well...then it is all worthwhile...I will be posting them on ebay tonight. The link is at the top of the page.
