New Paintings~

I have been reading a book about impressionism and love to experiment with the different techniques. Of course, you can't actually paint in the impressionist style without oils, but you can still use kind of the blobs and patches of paint with acrylic.

The first one, "Girl with a Cat" is a new style for me. I like the old fashioned look of it. It's a bit more realistic and I used more patches of paint rather than blending on the skin.

The next painting, "Cat with a Blue Vest", is based on a childhood memory. I really didn't play with dolls very much at all, but that didn't stop me from dressing up my pets in baby doll clothes. My poor kitties seemed to tolerate the clothes pretty well. They almost became hypnotized when they had clothes on. Maybe it was partially because they couldn't move very well. I guess it wasn't very nice of me, but I loved it. Am I the only crazy kid who did this?

Both of these paintings will be on Ebay tonight. The link is on the top of this page.

These are just precious. I love how every time I see a tutorial, read a book, or try a new paint or new surface, it evolves my work a bit. I like the effect your reading this impressionist book has had on your art. The girl is sweet. Reminds me of my grandgirl.

Now you have to paint Lassie's puppies all dressed up too.

I love them both Cris! It is always fun to try something new. I have been doing ALOT of that.

I do remember how the cats would just turn to gel as soon as they were dressed. It is like they would just give in and not even try to run. Wonder why that is? I distinctly remember WANTING meser to walk in her outfit and she would just lay on her side until I took it off. :(
